Default Dr. Ed Lefrak

Great new development:

I just talked to a very prominent cardiothoracic surgeon. His name is Edward Lefrak, MD (you can easily Google him) - he a professor of heart surgery at the University of Virginia. I got his name from Lyuba Vartikovski. Dr. Lefrak has tremendous experience and will retire at the end of June. He is now free to do other things and among them is humanitarian work. He worked on surgical missions in Guatemala, Equador, Cuba, Nicaragua, Vietnam and other countries. His ancestors are originally from Ukraine so he offered his services to RAMA and we will work with him to start surgical missions to Russia. After our success in Kemerovo we got many requests to start similar work in other cities and Yakov Elgudin cannot do it alone. I asked Dr. Lefrak, if he will be interested to work with us and he agreed.

He offered to get together a team of doctors and nurses, who can come to Russia in the fall of 2010 to start an exchange project with cardiac surgeons in adult cardiac surgery. We want to make it a continuous process, like we have in Kemerovo. As part of the project we can come to Russia and can bring doctors from Russia to the US for mini-fellowship training. There are multiple areas of cooperation that can develop from this work. The project we run in Kemerovo is very successful, but complex and expensive, and it became possible only because we got active support from Aman Tuleev. We are looking for support from the governors of other regions.

I guarantee you, looking at the rate things are going right now, RAMA will blow everything out of the water in the next few years. We have support of a very serious people and organizations now and it will only get stronger. Brick by brick we are building a great project. I cannot even compare what we have now with the "desert" we had in 2002. Join us.
